About the Company & Instructors

Jim Thorpe Associates was originally organized as Struckman-Thorpe Associates in 1993. The sole function of the company was, and remains, the preparation and presentation of information useful to the land surveying, civil engineering, and real property professional. This information is disseminated through workshops and home study courses. Due to the illness of the founder, Jim Thorpe, the ownership of Jim Thorpe Associates has been transferred to Wilson & Associates, Educational Division, PLLC, who will operate it from Franklin, TN and will continue to provide you with an affordable and convenient means of attaining your continuing education credits. Jim Thorpe Associates conducts workshops primarily throughout the southcentral US. Our courses are approved for continuing education credits in Tennessee and some in Kentucky. We are approved sponsors in Arkansas and North Carolina. And our courses are accepted for continuing education credits in Alabama, Alaska, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana,Mississippi, Nebraska and Ohio. We continue to add States annually. Check with your state board for acceptability of credits in other states.

Our Instructors

James E. Thorpe, founder and previous owner of the company, appears on all video courses, which were filmed during workshop presentations, except the one noted below. He has been engaged in the land surveying profession since the early 1970s, when transit-tape surveys ruled. He is licensed in Ohio (Public Lands) and New Jersey (Colonial). Mr. Thorpe specializes in the Legal Principles of Land Surveying and has been seated as an expert witness by the TN Courts.

Steve Roark, employed by the Tennessee Division of Forestry, conducts our video course entitled "Dendrology-Tree Identification".

Jeff Ash has been involved in the surveying profession for over 30 years and is licensed in Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia
